8. 5 favourite music artists right now:

1. Whitney Houston - she’s usually in my top 10 favourite artists of all time, and her death has confirmed how legendary my ears think she is.

2. Rachel Portman - If you’ve never listened to a Rachel Portman score, it’s one of the most sublime experiences you’ll ever have. She’s simplistic, but her ostinato-heavy style is perfect.

3. John Williams - I’m slowly going through his whole discography, and I love every single thing he’s ever done. There’s some really underrated stuff out there - look out for The Eiger Sanction, Jane Eyre and Penelope for awesome tunes.

4. Gabriel Fauré - I revisited his Requiem in D this past week and re-fell in love. 

5. Leonard Bernstein - I credit my musicals to the composers, so really I guess the answer is the original Broadway cast of West Side Story. The first time I ever heard/watched the musical, I loathed it, but over time and repeated viewings, I’ve come to view it as one of the greatest pieces of art from the 20th century - the music is brilliant.

14. Drink I order at a bar: Usually a rum and Coke (oh god, I’m boring) or a Long Island iced tea. 

15. A story from a sexual/drunken escapade: One time I was really drunk in Montreal and tried to convince strangers to just pee themselves in the street. Like, just stand on the corner and pee. I got pretty close to convincing one person. Later that same evening, when a friend was getting money from the ATM, I was yelling at all the passers-by in French, asking them if they wanted some free money from my friend. It was quite the spectacle.
